The recent hype I would say could be contributed to the “Turn Up” movement going around with everyone wanting to listen to music that gets them in the mood to dance, party, and have a good time. What are the Best Carowinds Rides?

The Amusement park in North Carolina is full of carowinds rides to have you screaming from start to finish. Carowinds Rides range from virtual reality simulators to even some that twist you and turn you while sitting in different positions.

The Vortex

Of all the carowinds rides participants seem to like the Vortex. This thrill ride secures its passengers in harnesses while standing up for the whole course of the ride. When it was first released it was the first ride in the South that gave its riders this experience.  

Carolina Cyclone

The Carolina Cyclone is another one of the best carowinds rides in the park. Although this ride is only one minute, it will keep you on edge the whole time.The Carolina cyclone was the 1st ride to turn people upside down 4 times. In total it includes four 360 degree inversions and a 450 degree uphill helix. Sounds like a stomachs nightmare!  

Drop Tower

The next of some of the carowinds rides that people like and seems to be one of the most talked about is the Drop Tower or Drop Zone. While securing in a group of excited riders, the Drop Tower rises at 16 feet/sec building anticipation until it reaches its peak of 160 feet. Then after a nerve wrecking pause at the top it plummets into 56 mph drop until it reaches 60 feet and returns safely to the ground.

The Intimidator

The monster of the park seems to be the Intimidator. Of all of the top Carowinds rides this seems to be sitting on the throne as king. This ride was inspired by the late NASCAR driver Dale Earnhardt with the carts being modeled as his race car. I found that this one is the best because 3:30 thrill ride is the longest, fastest, and tallest in the Southeast Region! I hear its best when you ride it at night as you wisp over the heads of people from different parts of the park. http://youtu.be/QTl7Vdy9j0Q   There are many other great carowinds rides that weren’t named including Thunder Road, Ricochet, Carolina Cobra, and Nighthawk just to name a few.

What are the Best Carowinds Rides for Kids?

Planet snoopy is the theme for the Carowinds rides for kids. Not too many of them are highly rated on the thrill side but they will do the trick for kids. One of the best seems to be Peanuts Pirate. You get ride along with the Peanuts crew as you Twist, pivot around, and turn 180 degrees on a slope. This is all wile navigating through a fleet of other ships. Another child favorite at the park is the Flying Ace Aerial Race. Swirling balloons steered by “flying ace” himself Snoopy, takes kids through arguably one of the best roller designed for kids in the world that the whole family can enjoy. This high flying journey is the tallest ride in Planet Snoopy. Last, but not least of the Carowinds rides for kids is the Woodstock Express. This wooden ride allows parents and kids to ride together on a thrill they will never forget sharing together. This 1:30 min ride is the fastest in Planet snoopy reaching speeds of up to 35 mph!

Are there any New Carowinds Rides or Attractions?

As of right now there are not any new Carowinds Rides but the park has recently opened up some new attractions. Dinosaur’s Alive is a new attraction that tries to provide an inside look into the prehistoric time period through interactive and educational experiences. These experiences are modeled based on found fossils in order to provide a realistic look at the past. This section of the park appeals to guests of all ages and has something that anyone can learn from. The amusement park of the Carolinas sits on the border of the two states and is a great place to take a summer vacation to. Although I discussed some of my favorite and the most popular, you should go out and try all of the Carowinds Rides for yourself! Why would someone choose one of the worst college majors?

 A decision that prospecting college students have to make is choosing what they want to study in college among some of the best and worst college majors. Growing up in today’s society children are taught and told from childhood by parents, teachers, and peers that the wise decision is to go to college and get a great education in order to open up doors to a higher potential income. The truth of the matter is that college is not for everyone, simple and plain. Students that end up in colleges without a plan or vision of what they want to do or be and may end up choosing one of worst college majors. Although they might choose a path for something that they find very interesting, trouble could arise when it’s time to find a job and have you left with a hefty bill of loans to pay back without the job or income to pay it back. The bottom line is, if you are going to make roughly a $40,000 long term investment, why not put it somewhere that has a larger opportunity to be successful. In some cases students go blindly, get caught up in the partying, socializing, and encounters with the opposite sex that they forget why they are even in school. In addition, there are so many people that go to college and put too much focus on their grades. I am not saying that grades are not important, but it is truly about the knowledge gained and experiences that will hold the most value whether you choose one of the best or worst college majors. On the contrary though, some individuals go into school picking one of the worst college majors knowing the risks of low employment or low income potential. These individuals may not be in it for the money. Majors like Religion, Art, and Music are prime examples of fields that chosen just out of pure enjoyment and fulfillment from that area.

Then with the lack of demand for some professionals in some of these areas is reflected by the lack of earning potential in comparison to other majors. Many of the worst college majors are considered weak because they only open doors for jobs that could be obtained without even having a degree. These majors end up qualifying people for a job they were qualified for as soon as they graduated from high school. Anthropology kicks off the list of worst college majors with a high unemployment rate and very minimal growth potential. Research shows that recent graduates from this major have a median salary that's even lower than that of those with only a high school diploma. The fact of the matter is that cave explorations and long treks like some heroes seen on TV is of the past and these majors find themselves exploring classified ads looking for work more than exploring of caves, tombs, and other artifacts from ancient history.  

#4 Film and Photography

This next major is ranked on this list because it contains, as previously discussed the fulfillment of working with someone’s passion but lacks the financial compensation one needs for being a college graduate. Photography is has the highest salary out of any art major. The crazy thing about this is that the salary is still $10,000 less than a typical degree. Then not to mention the unemployment rate is barely better than a HIGH SCHOOL DROPOUT. This solidifies Film and Photography on the worst college majors list.

#3 Visual and Performing Arts

Dreams of making it big in show business are what drive individuals into these majors. Thoughts of singing on Broadway or being the next great pop singer on a stage with all of the lights has blinded these individuals from the reality that it is not easy to be successful in this career field. This major finds itself among the worst college majors because of the difficulty of the job placement and so much determination on opportunity and discovery to be able to see advancement.

#2 Philosophy and Religion

The people that you come across that are the thinkers in life or they seek to learn about the things in life that some of us could not even fathom are the individuals in these majors. This major earned the runner up for the worst college majors ranking because of its high unemployment rate not to mention the average salary of recent grades are about 1/5 less than the average of the top 100 majors. This just makes it seem that there had to be other alternatives to choose from to give a chance to make a salary that can support a better lifestyle.

And here we have it. English has been determined to be at the top of the worst college majors list. This field has an unemployment rate over 1% higher than the national rate alone. It’s been found that nearly 1 out of every 10 English graduates struggle to find work after graduation. What distinguishes this major from the others on the list is the fact that not only do recent graduate's salaries are 15% lower than the top 100 majors, but older English grads still make almost $10,000 less than the others. This evidence speaks volumes about how the growth potential for this career field is very grim unless you plan to be a teacher or professor. Career development and counseling is key in high school in college to be able to lead our youth in the right direction and possibly avoid the misconception of how just going to college will automatically create a better lifestyle for you.  At the end of the day, it is about YOU. Find your niche, evaluate the possibilities, and chase your dreams! Hopefully, this list will be beneficial in the aspect that it will make individuals reevaluate their career path and truly determine if it is for them or not. In order to fly a kite you need a kite of your choice.  The easiest shapes to fly a kite with are the tradition shapes you see most often in stores. The bigger and better put together kites present a more difficult task.  If you want to fly a kite on a very windy day you can use a box kite which is better for those conditions.  Secondly you need space. The best place to fly a kite is an open area away from trees and power lines.  A beach, field or public park are great places to fly a kite.  Lastly, you may need a buddy to help you.  Attempting to fly a kite is better accomplished and more fun to do with a friend.

How to Fly a Kite?

To begin to fly a kite you or you buddy should grasp the bundle of string or bridle and the other individual should hold the kite.  Your buddy should created space between the two of you.  The string should be unraveled about 50-75 feet with a little extra slack given by your friend.  As your buddy lets go of the kite you should yank the string to launch the kite.  Be aware of the wind when you fly a kite.  Keep an eye on the direction of the wind.  Make sure you are inline with your buddy with the direction of the wind.  To lower the kite simply reel it in.  To fly a kite higher, unreel the string while being careful not to let it go and lose the kite.  If you get creative you can pull the line of the kite in and out and watch it do different tricks.

When is the best time to fly a kite?

The best time to fly a kite is on a day when there is a wind in the air.  You should never fly a kite in a thunderstorm so you will not be attracted to lightening with a wet line in the sky.  The ideal wind is no more than 20 mph.  A rule of thumb is if the leaves on trees and bushes are swaying than that is a good time.  The spring and the summer time are the most popular and ideal times to fly a kite throughout the year.  It can be a great outdoor activity to do with friends and family.
